Celebrate the experience of fresh culture in Calgary! Sponsored in part by Calgary Arts Development, FUSE Fresh Local Culture Fest is FREE for everyone; so dive into the creative expression of local love!
Submerge yourself in the spectacle at Shaw Millennium Park from 12-6pm on Saturday August 27th to see amazing emerging artists, musicians, dancers, skaters, and extreme parkour performers.
Music performances by: Transit, Samantha Savage Smith, Bring Fire, Jocelyn Alice, Francis Cheer, Forest Tate, Sons of Boey, DJ C-Sik and MORE!
Don't miss the Source's Clover Bowl Skateboarding Competition with $1000+ in prizes, Market Collective's artisan fair tent, the collaborative mural, and the EMMEDIA video-'zine dome. Dancers will be competing for cash prizes as the DJ's drop beats. Feature events + workshops by No Limits AFC, the Good Life Bike Shop, The Bass Bus, Light + Soul, and Rawkit.

Okay, there's been alot of changes to the FUSE itinerary since planning for this year's event began back in November! So, without further ado, here's solid information to know about the event this year:
Cost? FREE!!
When? Saturday, September 4th 2010, from 1:00 to 6:00pm
Where? Shaw Millennium Park (11th Street and 9th Avenue SW), Calgary
Itinerary:
11-1 setup
1-2 music and registration, art vendors are set up (performances?)
2-2:45 prelim bboy battles
2:45-3:15 music performances
3:15-4 skate comp prelims
4-430 bboy finals
430-5 skate finals
5-530 performances, judging
5:30-6 Awards, and music
FUSE Young Culture Festival
Preparations for F.U.S.E. are now underway! F.U.S.E. is our signature young culture jam at the end of Summer! For those who remember Urban Burn 1 + 2, this next evolution is gonna be on a whole nother level! This year, expect big things at our new location: Millennium Park! Everything starts at 1pm, Saturday September 4, 2010! See you there!!!

Dissemination Projects
We've partnered up with Sled Island and GlobalFest for some awesome dissemination projects! Watch for C.A.K.E. at both events this summer.

Shout-Out! Media
The Shout-Out! workshop is this weekend, 15 + 16 May, at Emmedia. Shout-Out! is a two day workshop for teenage girls, deconstructing issues of beauty, self esteem, and media influence. There are still seven spots available. Phone our Outreach Coordinator, Brooklyn, at 470-9876.
LiveStyle 3: Call to Artists
The City of Calgary's LiveStyle Festival is gearing-up for May 1st again this year. Leading-up to the event, the city has asked CAKE to curate an artshow for youth artists between 11 and 18! The purpose of this lead-in show is to scout-out talent for the main LiveStyle Festival in Olympic Plaza! Contact CAKE if you would like to submit some work for jury :) Our jurors will consider: colour, compostition, message, and innovation. We're not looking for the same old boring thing! We're looking for the best Calgary's youth have to offer! Wutchu waiting for?! there's prizes to be won!!!!
Coat Check 2: The PayCheck
From the people who brought you The Coat Check. The Coat Check 2010 presents "The PayCheck"! C'mon Calgary! Donate a backpack fitted with the essential for finding employment (boots, socks, etc), and get entered to win an original work of art by one of Calgary's illest Youth Artists! Donations can be made at ZOE's Store or CAKE Headquarters. And DONT MISS THE SHOW @ ARTSPOT SATURDAY MARCH 27!!
